Prepare Your Home for a Show House

If you are embroiled in the process of selling your home, the time will inevitably come when the professionals from Hudson Moody Estate Agents inform you that it is time to have an open house. This event is hosted by the property agents who are handling your sale, but will require that you do a few things to prepare for the event.

A show or 'open' house is about showcasing the best features of your home. Prospective clients are invited to spend a morning or an afternoon browsing through the interior at their leisure, while an estate agent draws attention to various good points on the way.

In order for the event to be a success, it is important that you have your home in great shape before hand. This means that you will need to do some serious cleaning in preparation. Vacuum thoroughly throughout the whole interior, and make sure that all surfaces are free from dust and lint.

Change the bedding in the bedrooms, and make sure the windows stand open for a few hours before the potential buyers are due to arrive. You will also want to clear away any personal clutter you might have lying around. Make sure that papers, keys, pens and so on are all stowed neatly in drawers, and replace this inevitable daily detritus with bowls of fresh fruit or vases of flowers.

While you are not actually required to attend the open house, you are very much expected to prepare for it. Ensure the day is a success by cleaning thoroughly, and by ensuring the house looks as genuinely warm and inviting as possible.
